Ofsted-graded Outstanding in all lesson observations. Formerly a Tutor Inspector for Harrow Borough Council.
I am a fully qualified, DBS-certified teacher, private tutor and Dyslexia Specialist with over 30 years' experience in education, teaching and as an Advisory Practitioner for the Society of Education and Training (SET).
Alongside tutoring, I have previously worked as a Dyslexia Coordinator and teacher in various schools and colleges, including Harrow College, Uxbridge College, Barnet College, Stanmore College, Weald College, West Herts College, and as a Teacher/Tutor Inspector for Harrow Borough Council. My most recent lesson observations were graded Outstanding (Grade 1) by Ofsted, and I can provide excellent references from colleges, parents and former students.
I have extensive experience supporting students of all ages, including those with dyslexia, ADHD, Asperger's, and English as an additional language. I specialise in English Language & Literacy and Maths, tailoring each lesson to the individual needs of my students.
My teaching approach is multi-sensory (visual, auditory and kinaesthetic). I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable, not a chore. In the first lesson, I assess individual needs, form a learning plan and give feedback to parents โ then aim to fill in any learning gaps before moving forward. Each session builds on the last.
I always say: if a student does not understand how I have explained something, this is my responsibility to rectify. Repeating instructions is not the key โ explaining in different ways is what works.
I'm passionate about teaching because I want to make a real difference. Busy classrooms can make it difficult for students to reach their full potential, and I enjoy working one-to-one where I can focus fully on each person's individual needs.

I have extensive experience working with families who have chosen to educate their children at home, including those who have opted out of the school system entirely. Whether due to anxiety, SEN needs, bullying, medical reasons or simply a desire for a more tailored education, every child deserves the right support.
I work closely with parents to design a structured, flexible learning programme that fits around their child's individual needs, pace and interests โ making learning enjoyable and effective.
My multi-sensory approach is particularly well-suited to children who have struggled in traditional classroom environments, helping them rebuild confidence and make real, measurable progress.
Experience with Children Who Have Opted Out of School
Over the years I have worked with a number of children and young people who have chosen โ or needed โ to step away from formal schooling altogether. These children often arrive feeling bruised by the system, their confidence knocked and their love of learning lost. I understand the challenges these families face, and I know how to meet each child exactly where they are. Through patient, consistent and nurturing one-to-one support, I have helped many of these young people rediscover their ability, rebuild their self-belief, and move forward โ whether that means returning to school in time, sitting external exams, or simply thriving in a home education setting.
